Certainly there were many times you wondered about side effects of radiological tests (X-ray scan, CT, MRI) performed using X-ray. In order to provide accurate diagnosis, perform routine tests, perform screening tests and as a part of monitoring the process of improving/rehabilitation of spinal dysfunctions, until recently physicians could only use clinical/physical examination techniques and scans using X-rays. Because of this people decided to extensively seek alternative methods for human body measurements, while avoiding the side effects of irradiation. And so we have the results of many years of tests: based on light pattern projection, the method of three-dimensional space spinal measurement and analysis.
Three-dimensional Spine Analysis
It is a noninvasive, patient- and personnel-safe alternative to X-ray tests. Three-dimensional spine analysis is a revolutionary and future combination of the latest optical technology and digital data processing. It is a quick and non-contact - and in most cases also automatic, with no markers - measurement and analysis of patient's back and spine, as well as differences in lower extremities length. The measurement results are very accurate, and thanks to built-in image transmission to the computer, data analysis takes place immediately after performing the test. Thanks to the measurement, it is possible to provide accurate diagnosis, facilitating selection of possibly the best individual therapy.
Formetic 3D and 4D analysis works like this:
The patient stands in front of the device consisting of a digital camera and projector. The projector emits parallel measurement lines onto the surface of the back while the digital video camera transmits three-dimensional image to the computer. Computer software immediately analyzes the data and determines digital image of the back, spine and pelvic position. Thanks to a platform with adjusted height it is possible to perform precise body posture correction simulation (disparity in the lower extremities, scoliosis, pelvis positions, etc.). As a part of monitoring the treatment progress, it is easy to visually compare the current status with previous states or the initial examination. Based on scientific studies, advance optic measurement methods allowed to obtain body posture image and place the spine in three-dimensional space. The measurement results are helpful when selecting and performing therapy and they also allow to determine treatment progress.
Diagnostics and therapy of balance and proprioception.
SIGMA balance platform is a modern device for balance and proprioception diagnostics and training. The diagnostics allows to determine the balance condition in relation to the proprioception and motor coordination of the analyzed person. Easy to implement test protocol, straightforward and clear, easy to read and interpret report make the SIGMA platform easy to use, while being an extremely efficient and objective diagnostic and therapeutic instrument. Working on the platform is aimed at stimulation of the motor system and nervous system elements responsible for i.e. balance control, proprioception and coordination. It is a great type of both therapy and training, e.g. for sports competitors. It allows to give direction to physiotherapeutic work and sports training in terms of possible patient's or competitor's needs.
FED device (FED method) is an alternative to surgical treatment of scoliosis.
FED method using external (asymmetrical) forces working in the opposite to forces deforming our spines, enforces specific positive changes. Three-dimensional mechanism working on repair and correction of the spine uses a force of 1 to 100 kg pressing on the very apex of the scoliosis, causing backward rotation and spine stretching (20 sec of pressure, 10 sec of relaxation). The impact on the bone system, the developing structures, cartilages, ligaments and the vasculature is so significant that it enforces the awareness of correct posture and stimulates spine to correct position.
FED method or "three-dimensional spine stabilization with simultaneous extension and derotation" is an innovative approach to scoliosis therapy, gaining more and more supporters in Poland, Europe and around the world. Professor Santos Sastre Fernandez is the author and creator of the method. It was created as a result of many years of scientific and research studies. It is currently based on more than 2400 cataloged and confirmed clinical cases.
The method is a complex proposition of lateral spinal deviation three-plane therapy (as well as for kyphosis and lordosis), with prediction and determination of complete therapeutic management. The treatment method suggested by Professor Sastre is based on the use of instrumental kinesitherapy, applied using specially developed and patented FED device which allows corrective forces to work at the deviation level through stabilization, stretching and derotation of the spine.
